For those with the NIN, you can link your NIN to MTN lines before it will be barred. National Communication Commission (NCC) has vowed to abide by the order of the FG to bar all outgoing calls of subscribers who were yet to link their NIN to their mobile lines.
To avoid blockage, you must link your National Identification Number to your MTN lines following the NCC to Telecommunication Operators in Nigeria to block any sim card that has not been linked to its NIN.
MTN has provided a USSD code and URL for their customers to link their NIN to their lines.
How to Check your NIN With USSD Code
There is a way to check your NIN if you have misplaced your printout given to you by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) through the USSD code.
Dial *346# on your mobile line that is linked to your BVN, driver’s license, or voter’s card registration and follow the instruction and get your NIN number.
There is no cost attached to it.
How To Link NIN To Your MTN Sim
You can actually link NIN to your MTN lines through your mobile phones, laptops, and data-enabled devices.
There are two methods you can do this.
- Through MTN-NIN Portal.
- Through the USSD Code.
Through MTN-NIN Portal
- Click the official MTN-NIN Portal https://nin.mtnonline.com/ to start.
- Fill in the requirement needed.
- Click the submit button.
- An OTP will be sent to your MTN line.
- Enter the OTP and click the confirm button.
You will later receive a confirmation message on your linked line. Saying your line is linked to your NIN.
N/B: The names you will be using should correspond with the names on your NIN. Provide a working Email address.
